The Parlour Palm brings elegant, arching palm fronds to larger terrariums. Slow-growing and shade-tolerant, young plants stay small enough to feature as a graceful vertical accent.

Light

Low to medium, indirect light β€” one of the few palms happy away from bright windows.

Water & humidity

Keep evenly moist but not soggy; let the surface dry slightly between waterings.

In the terrarium

Best in tall or larger terrariums where its fronds have headroom. Use young plants and expect to move it on once it outgrows the container after a year or two.

Tip: Choose the smallest seedlings you can find β€” they'll stay in scale with a terrarium far longer.

Common problems

  • Brown frond tips = air or soil too dry.
  • Yellowing = overwatering or too much direct light.

Frequently asked questions

Will a Parlour Palm fit in a terrarium?

Young Parlour Palms suit tall or larger terrariums. They're slow-growing but will eventually need repotting once they outgrow the space.

Does the Parlour Palm need bright light?

No β€” it's unusually shade-tolerant and does well in the lower, indirect light typical inside a terrarium.
