How to Care for Jewel Orchids in Terrariums
A little bit about Jewel Orchids
Jewel Orchids are not only an excellent indoor house plant, they make for great terrarium plants too. These somewhat rare (although increasingly becoming readily available) Orchids are an excellent addition to terrariums when cared for correctly.

How to grow and care for Jewel Orchids in Terrariums
Jewel Orchids work particularly well in open terrariums as the base of the plant can be kept in the right conditions while the flowering stem is able to climb upwards. A soil base of coco fibre is generally a good choice, with layers of sand, sphagnum moss and some perlite or pebbles and stones to improve drainage.
Ideal Lighting Conditions for Jewel Orchids:
Bright, indirect light
Ideal Temperature Conditions for Jewel Orchids:
15ºC (59ºF) – 18℃ (64℉)
Ideal Watering Conditions for Jewel Orchids:

Warm, shady and grown for its leaves
Jewel orchids break the usual orchid rules: they are grown for their velvety, vein-laced foliage rather than their flowers, and they are warm-growing terrestrials from the shady forest floor. That makes them ideal for a closed terrarium, give them low, indirect light (direct sun scorches the leaves), warm temperatures, high humidity and a substrate kept evenly moist but never waterlogged.
Where to buy Jewel Orchids:
Local nurseries, terrarium stores, and online marketplaces are a great place to find terrarium plants and Jewel Orchids.
